Who We Are

The Connecticut Clay Artists is an organization of professional clay artists who come together for creative, intellectual and supportive interchange and to exhibit their work collectively. The artists' interest in working with clay and exploring its possibilities draws the group together; individually and together they explore the infinite potential of clay. Whether the focus is on form or on function, on narrative or abstraction, the common desire is to hone skills and explore techniques in order to make individual artistic statements.

What We Do

We hold monthly meetings, rotating among the homes of members. To enable us to meet in this way we limit membership to approximately fifteen. Our meetings include a business meeting and a program, which may be a presentation, a team project or a workshop on a topic of interest to the members. In addition, we periodically schedule field trips to galleries, clay studios, museums, and other points of artistic interest. Two or three times per year, we set up a show and sale of our members' work. Recent and upcoming shows are listed on the events page of this site.

Pottery Pot Luck

Every January, CCA members celebrate the New Year with a Pot Luck Dinner. Each member makes a dish, served in one of her ceramic platters or bowls. This year we share the recipes for these dishes with you in our CCA Cookbook page..

Joining CCA

Membership is open to experienced potters in our area. The group is not suitable for beginners. Expressions of interest received by our members will be referred to the Membership Chairman, who will discuss responsibilities, dues, etc., with the prospective member. With continued interest, we will invite the prospective member to attend a meeting to discuss their background and present samples of their work. This is an opportunity for both the applicant and the group to further evaluate each other. CCA members will then vote on whether to extend an invitation to join.
