Roberta Ahuja

Bio

Even though Roberta Ahuja displayed an interest in art since her childhood, she discovered ceramics only as a young mother living in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

While visiting an art exhibition, she signed up to take lessons painting finished pottery pieces in faience, a style of fine glazed pottery. From just painting on bisque, she has expanded her ceramic horizons into different styles and techniques, including making her own pieces. Roberta tends to be a perfectionist but clay pieces always have their "created defects". She is learning not to focus on the form, but decorating the finished piece, using her pottery as canvas for art. Roberta's range of work is quite extensive, ranging from Mailoica to Terra cotta though her favorite seems to be Arab themes. She lives in Newtown, with her family and her pets.
