Artist Statement

My love and appreciation of things made of clay first inspired me to make pots. I use porcelain to throw my pieces. The white claybody has a wonderfully silky, smooth and malleable quality. It's almost like throwing cream cheese! Working on the wheel has allowed me to create form through movement. My surface decorations are achieved by dipping and pouring shiny and matte glazes. The pots I make in my home studio are fired in an electric kiln (oxidation firing). With training that has included various classes and workshops, I have emerged making mostly functional pieces that hopefully enhance the users day to day experience.
