Artist Statement

My involvement with clay began in the mid-1990s when I enrolled in a pottery class at Wooster Community Art Center in Danbury, Connecticut. After several years, in 2003, I moved on to the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, New York, where I am still working today. For the most part, my pieces are wheel thrown, but I do also enjoy hand building. While much of my work is functional, on occasion it might be purely decorative. I enjoy altering pots, which often takes me in a sculptural direction. Inspiration comes from the human form and gesture, as well as from nature.
